TECH TIP: How to Invite Others to a Google Hangout

Hello Everyone! My name is Silvia Gonzalez-Powers. I am an ESL teacher at the Roosevelt K-8 School
in Hyde Park. Today we’re going to learn how to invite
others to a Google Hangout. There are two types of Google Hangouts: chats,
and video hangouts. We will learn how to invite people to both
types of hangouts. First, log in to Google Hangouts. If you want to start a Google Hangout conversation
via chat, look for “Start a new one” on the right side of your screen. Enter a phone number or email address for
the person/people you would like to invite to chat with you. Invitations will be sent. Once they have accepted your invitation, you
will be able to type messages and chat with each other. If you want to start a Google Hangout via
video, click on the green button in the bottom right corner
that says “Start a Video Hangout”. Enter email addresses for people you want
to invite to the video hangout. If the people you are inviting are outside
of “BPS”, click the blue “Change” link at the top and “Allow” non-BPS people
to receive invites. This is helpful when holding a video conference
with parents, etc. An invitation will be sent to everyone you’ve
invited. Once they accept, you will be able to see
them at the bottom of your screen and click on different people
at the bottom of your screen to enlarge their camera view. And that’s how you invite others to a Google
Hangout. Thanks for watching. I hope this was helpful.
