[Music] we see the future of our electronics is going to be changing and it’s also going to be changing our lives currently we all have a cellphone we hold and take it everywhere but we imagine in the future 15 years or 20 years from now the function of the cellphone is going to dissolve into what we wear what we attach to our ski and what’s implanted in the body so this is a completely new direction but we are very excited and we think that’s something that’s going to happen in a not too far future definitely I think chemists will play a critical role in this because the kind of materials that will go into such future electronics in which we call schemes are the electronics because they will mimic the properties of human skin so that such new electronics er can interface seamlessly with human body so that means so we the new type of electronic materials and then in order to come up with these materials we need to use the chemistry to come up with a new molecular design concepts as well as to be able to make such a new material see since I was a graduate student and a later on after I started my own independent career it was incredibly inspiring and also rewarding working with people from other disciplines that gives me new ideas new inspirations and also make me we’re treating is more impactful so that we not only make the molecules but we actually can show the functions and the properties these molecules are intended for in the setting that we design them for my favorite chemical reaction is stemming a company that was a reaction that I investigated when I was a PhD student at that time it was the first time it was used to make a conjugated polymers remember this is more than 20 years ago conjugated polymers was still at the starting point but now stealing coupling reaction is used so widely in making conjugated polymers and it’s still one of the most effective ones we use all the time to make our electronic materials I would say looking back with my only experience I would encourage young chemists to dare to step out of their comfort zone because trained as a chemist we’re always more comfortable with the pot home the chemistry language with using chemistry to meet molecules but if we try to step out of discomfort zone just to reach out a little bit to other adjacent fields then there’s a whole enormous new possibilities that chemistry can be applied to solve dare to step out of this County alone also a new discount [Music] you
