Kate and William’s First Joint Engagements Of 2020 Revealed

Just one day after Meghan Markle and Prince
Harry made their first public appearance of 2020, William and Kate announced their own
first engagements of the New Year. Kensington Palace has announced the royal
couple will travel to Bradford on Wednesday 15 January to visit a number of projects which
support the community and promote cohesion within it, in one of the UK’s most diverse
cities. William and Kate, on behalf of the Queen,
will also host a reception at Buckingham Palace to mark the UK-Africa Investment Summit on
Monday 20 January. The Summit itself will be hosted by Prime
Minister Boris Johnson and will bring together businesses, governments and international
institutions to showcase and promote the breadth and quality of investment opportunities across
Africa. Africa holds a special place in the hearts
of Kate and William, both 37. They got engaged during a visit to Kenya in 2010. Prince William
is also a frequent visitor to Africa, often to help combat the illegal wildlife trade. While celebrating recipients of the Diana
Awards in November, the royal dad even broke into Swahili to talk with one man from Tanzania,
Africa. Royal fans already got their first glimpse
of Kate and William this year earlier this month when the parents of three joined Queen
Elizabeth at St. Mary Magdalene church on her Sandringham estate for Sunday morning
service. The Duchess hosted some of her closest companions
at the couple’s country home Anmer Hall in Norfolk to kick off early birthday celebrations,
before she turns 38 on Thursday. The Cambridges also spent Christmas Day in
Sandringham and their eldest children Prince George, six, and Princess Charlotte, four,
made their debut at the annual church service. Princess Charlotte delighted royal fans as
she hugged members of the public and curtseyed to her great-grandmother, the Queen. Meghan, 38, and Prince Harry, 35, stepped
out in London on Tuesday after returning from their nearly two-month hiatus from royal work
— to thank Canadians for hosting them on their getaway. The royal parents spent most of their time
off in Canada, where they were having what sources close to them said was a much-needed
break with baby Archie. Harry and Meghan — who wore a toffee wool
sweater, a brown satin midi skirt and matching velvet pumps with a camel coat — were all
smiles as they arrived at Canada House. They met with Janice Charette, High Commissioner
to the U.K., in the “British Columbia Room,” which they chose because they stayed on Vancouver
Island, British Columbia, during their getaway. Ever since she was spotted walking arm-in-arm
with Prince William during a ski trip in 2004, the now Duchess of Cambridge’s style has
come under close inspection. From Kate Middleton’s early time in the public
eye during which she embraced preppy puffer jackets and hiking boots to more refined gowns
at evening galas, the royal’s wardrobe has experienced a coming of age over the years,
prompting her sartorial status to soar.
