How Director of Communications and Engagement Brandi Paul Connects with Her Audience


I am Brandi Paul, I’m the Director of
Communications and Engagement with Westside Community Schools in Omaha
Nebraska so I think when I came into the district we had so very many things to
be proud of and we are a community that it seems like everybody’s talking to
each other but at the same time nobody knew what was happening in any of our
buildings we wanted to really try and do everything we could to connect everyone
and Smore has provided us a way to share that information the first time
that I produced one and sent it out I literally think I walked out of my
office and started laughing because I’m like there’s got to be a touch what’s
the catch it can’t be that easy and it was it just connects everybody in a way
that’s very visual and easy to use it translates you can go back and reflect
on it later it works on an app it’s it’s been a game changer for us immediately I
could start seeing the analytics coming in if who is reading it how long were
they reading it the badges when I first started receiving those it is so silly
but when you get these badges for five hundred people have read your newsletter
2,000 people have read your newsletter it’s just a little bit of validation
that yes we’re reaching people we know that they’re seeing our messages and and
we’re communicating with them we’re reaching them one of the most fulfilling
things that I’ve discovered through Smore is our principals and our
teachers and even our extensive network that we have with our kids connection
after-school care our kids have after-school care school care or our early childhood
centers they want their own smart accounts they want to do their
newsletters every single one of our buildings that have adopted this our
admin assistants love this product because they can create something easily
they can look at other buildings and see what they’re doing and maybe copy their
ideas it’s just such an easy tool to use that’s visual that works that you can
track and then you can share with other educators in your district and help them
find the same efficiencies and ease abuse that we found but what I also love
about Smore and your company is that technically I get a response
from your team Dylan especially within 30 minutes an
hour I can’t remember the last time I’ve dealt with the corporate entity on an
international level that their response time for support was that quick my
questions are answered I get directed to resources and it’s just so refreshing to
have that kind of customer service and customer support the thing about s’more
is it’s so easy to use we really haven’t had any training the advice I’ve given
our team members who use it is just to play with it see what you like see what
format works for you at a Westside we have an incredibly diverse community
English is our number one language but we also have students who speak Spanish
Farsi Mandarin the list goes on I think we have more than a hundred languages
represented in our school district the fact that this can be translated so we
are not leaving out any parent any grandparent any student any family
member makes me so very excited that we are including everyone just being able
to better look at those stats and better phrase and frame how I create the next
newsletter it’s a wonderful and exciting goal I have moving forward to just
increase that engagement in connection with our community through our
newsletters
