DR. SUE STANLEY.DR. STANLEY CAME TO CSULB IN AUGUST OF 1986 AND
RETIRED IN DECEMBER 2014. SHE WAS THE
FASHION MERCHANDISING AND DESIGN PROGRAM COORDINATOR FOR 12
YEARS, THE FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES DEPARTMENT CHAIR FOR
NINE YEARS, AND THE COLLEGE OF HEALTH AND HUMAN SERVICES
ASSOCIATE DEAN FOR SEVEN YEARS. AS A SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY OF DRESS
SCHOLAR, SHE WAS THE SCHOOL UNIFORM RESEARCH SPECIALIST FOR
THE LONG BEACH UNIFIEDSCHOOL DIS TRICT, AS WELL AS A CO-AUTHOR OF
A FASHION CONSUMER TEXTBOOK THAT IS USED
INTERNATIONALLY.AS CHAIR OF FAMILY AND CONSUMER SCIENCES,
SHE FOSTERED STUDENT SUCCESS THROUGH
CURRICULUM, ARTICULATION, AND ENROLLMENT MANAGEMENT. AS A
RESULT OF HER WORK HERE, THE FASHION DESIGN MAJOR GREW FROM A
HANDFUL OF STUDENTS TO A NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED PROGRAM.
IN ADDITION, SHE WAS THE SENIOR PRINCIPAL INVESTIGATOR
FOR NEARLY $2M IN GRANTS TO ASSIST PRESCHOOL TEACHERS IN
COMPLETING THEIR BACHELOR’S DEGREES. HER TIRELESS WORK TO SERVE
STUDENTS AND FACULTY HAS RESULTED IN AN ACHIEVEMENT THAT MANY OF
US ASPIRE TO IN OURPROFESSIONAL LIVES: TO LEAVE SOMEPLACE BETTER
THAN WE FOUNDIT; TO MAKE IT MATTER THAT WE WERE EVER HERE.

UNTIL HER RETIREMENT IN 2001. DURING THIS PERIOD, SHE WAS
INSTRUMENTAL IN RAISING FUNDS TO EXPAND THE CENTER TO OFFER MUCH
NEEDED SERVICES FOR STUDENTSWITH YOUNG CHILDREN. AMONG THE KEY
DONORS WAS HER GOOD FRIEND, PHILANTHROPIST AND
ALUMNA ISABEL PATTERSON AND CSU BOARD OF TRUSTEE CHAIR MARIANTHI
LANSDALE. AMONG HER OTHER PROUDEST
ACCOMPLISHMENTS IS WRITING AND ILLUSTRATING THE BOOK, GROWING
UP EQUAL.PAMELA IS STILL VERY ACTIVE IN HER COMMUNITY AND CAL
STATELONG BEACH SUPPORT GROUPS, PARTICULARLY WOMEN & PHILANTHROPY. SHE URGES YOU TO
